Bari is the capital of the Apulia region in Italy and lies on the Adriatic Sea. Most of the towns/villages around Bari have beautiful coastlines with caves carved by the ocean over hundreds of years.
The town is laid out as follows:
North – Old town between the two harbours with a big nightlife district. To see – Basilica of Saint Nicholas, Cathedral of San Sabino and the Hohenstaufen Castle.
South – Murat area, modern heart of the city. Sea promenade and shopping district (Via Sparano & Via Argiro)
Centre – Residential zones
Bari is an excellent base from where you can explore the following bucket-list towns:
Matera (Old cave town that was featured in the early 007 movies)
Alberobello (White washed houses with cone shaped roofs…right out of a storybook)
Polignano a Mare (Cave restaurant and blue flag beach – postcard town!)
Ostuni (Pure white houses with a beautiful medieval old town)
