Itinerary
1 night
Rome

Explore Rome

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation – welcome to the Eternal City!  Rome will be your base for the night. After your check in, why not walk to the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain? Most shops are also open until 19h00 so this is the perfect time to explore.
Should you wish to add additional days in Rome, this can be done at the end of your tour. Please speak your booking agent.

Highlights of Rome

Colosseum | Arch of Constantine | Forum | Victor Emmanuel Monument | Pantheon | Spanish Steps | Via Dei Condotti | Piazza Venezia | Piazza Navona | Trevi Fountain | Vatican City | Sistine Chapel | Pantheon

Meals

Breakfast is included.

Special information

Backpacks are banned at almost most museums/art galleries/historic sights with security check-ins.  Rather invest in a cross-body bag that can fit your phone, water bottle, sunblock and  glasses to avoid turning back once you’ve (finally!) reached the front of the queue.

Museums are open and free to all on the last Sunday of the month (very busy).  Check opening times for the Vatican (vatican.va) before you visit.  Note that the Vatican museum is closed on most Sundays

When visiting Rome it’s always best to start early in the morning to allow enough time to navigate the large crowds around the main sights.

1 night
Naples

Explore Naples

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation – Naples: The 3rd largest city in Itay, after Rome and Milan. The historic city centre is a UNESCO world heritage site and also the largest in Europe. Put on your walking shoes and explore!

The world’s first pizzeria was opened in Naples in 1830 and still remains open today – a must see on your list.

Highlights of Naples

Naples Harbor | National Archeological Museum | Capodimonte Royal Palace and Museum | Cathedral | San Martino Monastery and Museum | Catacombs of San Gennaro | Castel Nuovo | San Domenico Maggiore.

Meals

Breakfast is included.

Special information

Naples have hills! Armed with your local map, be prepared to go either downhill or uphill to your desired landmark. That said, most tourist activities and sights are located within the old city center which is fairly flat. It’s up to you to either have a very active walking day or to rather kick-back with a coffee at a sidewalk cafe and take in the local day to day activities of this beautiful old city.

2 nights
Sorrento

Explore Sorrento

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation – Sorrento: The clifftop town with a million lemons! The beautiful town of Sorrento will be your base for the next 2 nights.

On the 2nd day of your stopover in Sorrento you will visit the towns of Positano and Amalfi by ferry.

Highlights of Sorrento

Marina Grande and Marina Piccola (Big and Small Harbour) | Cloister of San Francesco | Bagni della Regina Giovanna | Cathedral and Bell Tower | Basilica of Sant’Antonino | Villa Comunale | Correale di Terranova Museum | Museo-Bottega della Tarsia Lignea (Wooden Marquetry Shop-Museum) | Museo Archeologico Territoriale della Penisola Sorrentina (Archeological Museum) | City Walls

Meals

Breakfast is included.

Special information

If you plan to go swimming in Sorrento (or any of the nearby beaches), remember most of Italy has rocky beach “sand” – pack your swimming shoes! Remember to leave a 7 to 10% tip in restaurants (plus taxi’s) and you’ll be well on your way to living like a local on the Amalfi coast.

3 nights
Bari

Explore Bari

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation – capital of the Puglia region, Bari: The port town of Bari will be your base for the next 3 nights. Explore the historic town center with promenade and pedestrian shopping area.

It is the second most important economic centre of mainland Southern Italy after Naples, and is well known as a port and university city, as well as the city of Saint Nicholas.

On the 2nd day of your stopover in Bari you will visit the town of Alberobello with the beautiful and unique white washed houses with cone shaped roofs.

On the 3rd day of your stopover in Bari we will travel to the town of Polignano a Mare, known for breathtaking views of sea caves and cliffs.

Highlights of Bari

The Basilica of San Nicola | The Church of San Sabino | Bari Castle | Lungomare Nazario Sauro | Bari old town | Piazza Mercantile | Via Sparano (shopping)

Meals

Breakfast is included.

Special information

South Italy is not as clean as the more tourist friendly towns up north. Be prepared to see a lot of uncollected dustbins in the back streets and have more of a ‘normal’ view of people going about their daily activities. Southern Italy is however a paradise for foodies and you will find some of the friendliest people in the world here. As in any big town, hold on to your purse for any pickpockets and do not leave your luggage unattended!

You will depart Bari on the morning of day 8, heading back to Rome via train. If you would like to book extra days in the Puglia region to explore on your own, please advise your booking agent so that your return train ticket can be amended accordingly.
