It is advisable to pre-book tickets to the Duomo and the roof of the Duomo if you don’t want to spend your whole day waiting in line. Your tour leader can assist.

2 nights
Venice

Explore Venice

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation. Capital of the Veneto region of Italy – Venice: The city of 118 small islands. Linked by over 400 bridges – some of them private – Venice is any photographer’s dream!

You will travel via water taxi to see the beautiful islands of Murano (glass blowing) and Burano (colourful houses, lace-making). Demonstrations of both glass blowing and lace-making are free and you are welcome to watch. Do watch out for fake Chinese lace in Burano though – if it’s cheap, it’s most likely fake!

Pre-plan your visit to Venice in order to see all your favourites.

Backpacks are banned at almost most museums/art galleries/historic sights with security check-ins.  Rather invest in a cross-body bag that can fit your phone, water bottle, sunblock and  glasses to avoid turning back once you’ve (finally!) reached the front of the queue.

Museums are open and free to all on the last Sunday of the month (very busy).  Check opening times for the Vatican (vatican.va) before you visit.  Note that the Vatican museum is closed on most Sundays

When visiting Rome it’s always best to start early in the morning to allow enough time to navigate the large crowds around the main sights.

Note: Your tour will end in Bari. Should you like to book extra days in the Puglia region, or any other town in Italy, please consult your booking agent.
If you are departing Italy after the tour, train tickets can be added under ‘extra services’ when you check out, from Bari to your desired departure town.

Highlights of Bari

The Basilica of San Nicola | The Church of San Sabino | Bari Castle | Lungomare Nazario Sauro | Bari old town | Piazza Mercantile | Via Sparano (shopping)

Meals

Breakfast is included.

Special information

South Italy is not as clean as the more tourist friendly towns up north. Be prepared to see a lot of uncollected dustbins in the back streets and have more of a ‘normal’ view of people going about their daily activities. Southern Italy is however a paradise for foodies and you will find some of the friendliest people in the world here. As in any big town, hold on to your purse for any pickpockets and do not leave your luggage unattended!

You will depart Bari on the morning of day 8, heading back to Rome via train. If you would like to book extra days in the Puglia region to explore on your own, please advise your booking agent so that your return train ticket can be amended accordingly.
