You will meet up with your tour leader in the evening for a welcome drink and to meet your fellow explorers.

Meals

Breakfast is included.

Special information

Backpacks are banned at almost most museums/art galleries/historic sights with security check-ins.  Rather invest in a cross-body bag that can fit your phone, water bottle, sunblock and  glasses to avoid turning back once you’ve (finally!) reached the front of the queue.

Museums are open and free to all on the last Sunday of the month (very busy).  Check opening times for the Vatican (vatican.va) before you visit.  Note that the Vatican museum is closed on most Sundays

When visiting Rome it’s always best to start early in the morning to allow enough time to navigate the large crowds around the main sights.

2 nights
Florence

Explore Florence

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation on day 4. Capital of the Tuscan region of Italy – Florence: The heart of art and architecture masterpieces. Florence will be your base for the next 2 nights.

Half day trip to the town of Pisa (leaning tower of Pisa) included on day 5.

For day trip ideas in and around Florence – click on the ‘see add-on tours’ button under optional activities to book. Your tour leader will be available in the evenings to assist with the booking of add-on tours and activities.

Special information

As with all main tourist towns in Italy, Florence is always busy. We recommend that you pre-book your Uffizi museum tickets asap as the queue is normally about 5 hours long.

Take note that most museums are closed on Mondays. There is however more than enough to explore in and around Milan should your tour be in Milan over the weekend. The Italian Lakes (Como and Maggiore) is easily reachable by train and takes approx. one hour – perfect as a day trip from Milan.

It is advisable to pre-book tickets to the Duomo and the roof of the Duomo if you don’t want to spend your whole day waiting in line. Your tour leader can assist.

2 nights
Venice

Explore Venice

Afternoon check-in into your night’s accommodation on day 8. Capital of the Veneto region of Italy – Venice: The city of 118 small islands. Linked by over 400 bridges – some of them private – Venice is any photographer’s dream!

On day 9 you will travel via water taxi to see the beautiful islands of Murano (glass blowing) and Burano (colourful houses, lace-making). Demonstrations of both glass blowing and lace-making are free and you are welcome to watch. Do watch out for fake Chinese lace in Burano though – if it’s cheap, it’s most likely fake!

For day trip ideas in and around Venice – click on the ‘see add-on tours’ button under optional activities to book. Your tour leader will be available in the evenings to assist with the booking of add-on tours and activities.

Please note: Venice will be your final stop on this tour. On the morning of day 10 you will check out of your accommodation and head back to Rome. You have the following options:
– Store your luggage at Venice train station and spend another few hours in the city before making your way back to Rome via train. You can specify at which time you would like to board the train back to Rome – this is a 3 hour 40 minute journey.
– Book another 1 or 2 nights in Venice (subject to availability) and travel back at a later stage.
– Travel back to Rome and book another 1 or 2 nights in Rome.
